Hawks announce hiring of Nate McMillan as head coach

Article Summary:

The Atlanta Hawks and Nate McMillan have agreed to a four-year deal for him to become the team’s head coach, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk announced when speaking with the media Monday afternoon that he and McMillan had spoke and that an agreement had been made.

McMillan led the Hawks to a tremendous run after taking over on an interim basis on March 1 after the firing of Lloyd Pierce, and obviously ultimately led them all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals during the postseason.

The four-year pact aligns him nicely with the Hawks’ core group of players going forward, and McMillan.
