Though His Airness’ Team 23XI is basking in the excitement of his first victory as a NASCAR owner, it was actually Michael B. Jordan guiding the NBA’s stroll down memory lane highlighted by an array of present stars, all-time legends and team mascots.

“We talk a lot about the NBA family, so how do we bring that family to life and welcome our fans into that family?” NBA chief marketing officer Kate Jhaveri explained about the thought process of the video special. Such specials are only the beginning of the NBA’s efforts to highlight its strides since the New York Knicks and Toronto Huskies tipped off the league’s first regular-season game on Nov. 1, 1946.

To recognize the NBA’s original franchises, the three teams that have played in every NBA season will face each other in three nationally televised games over a five-day stretch during December.
